- British journalist Rahila Gupta traveled to Northern Syria to witness the grassroots feminist democracy being built in territory liberated from the Islamic State. She has written extensively about the impressive network of women's cooperatives, political education and legislative accomplishments built in just a few years.
- An Algerian living in France, Helie-Lucas argues in favour of secularism and gives global context to the nearly-successful plan to let Sharia courts do binding arbitration in family law cases in Ontario, and the so-called ban on the veil in France. This is an archival program recorded in November 2005. The issue is ongoing, however, and if anything increased.

- What do you learn when you pay attention to the women embroiled with the action around torture, imperialism and war? Dr. Cynthia Enloe, a scholar of Political Science and Women's Studies, has made a career around this question. Among her many books are Globalization and Militarism: Feminists Make the Link; Maneuvers: The International Politics of Militarizing Womens Lives; The Curious Feminist; and, Seriously! Investigating Crashes and Crises as if Women Mattered. Her latest, 2017, is The Big Push: Exposing and Challenging Persistent Patriarchy. In this talk given at the US National Women's Studies Association in 2004, Enloe enumerated women and their roles around the US torture of prisoners in Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison. The program ends with a survey of women who appear (and sometimes speak) in the Swedish documentary WikiRebels, including member of the Icelandic parliament Birgitta Jonsdottir, and Hillary Clinton. Also heard is Julian Assange.

The book Canada's Promises to Keep: The Charter and Violence Against Women (CASAC Report for short), tells the gripping history of Canadian feminists' work to carve out legal and economic space for fighting violence against women, in a country undergoing neoliberal structural adjustment. The promises they try to hold the country to are those in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (installed in Canada's Constitution in 1982) and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW - ratified by Canada in 1981). A summary of the research in the book can be found here: http://www.casac.ca/content/canadas-promises-keep-charter-and-violence-against-women - CASAC stands for the Canadian Association of Sexual Assault Centres

Conclusion of 2-part interview with biologist Karen Messing about gendered research on gendered work and its effects on health and stress. Both parts are full of examples.

- Lively and informative recording of a rally outside Connecticut's only women's prison in May 2018. Groups around the country have been holding Christmas bail-outs and Mothers Day Bail-Outs to free incarcerated women. most of whom are mothers, from pre-trial detention. The Connecticut Bail Fund raised $30,000 to bail out 30 women in time to be home for Mothers Day 2018. That included four women released from immigration jail.

- From the podcast series Gender at Work, feminists with experience in United Nations and aid organizations explain how policies to stop discrimination and abuse of privilege fail, and what might discourage the culture of impunity.

Since 1982, feminists in Oslo have had a regular piece of the airwaves. They consider theirs to be the first women's radio station. They go the extra mile to get mostly female-oriented content in news, interviews, and music. This hip community station is constantly renewed by being passed on to younger women through training and mentorship. Interviews from 2000 and Norwegian women's music from 1999 feature in this gem from the WINGS archive.
