In the third edition of our public panel discussion and podcast series TALK TALK TALK, three LGBTQIA+ Indeginous and activists will dig more deeper the concept of the “broken crayons” with in indigenous communities. Some Indigenous communities always treasured and celebrated the beautiful diversity of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and expression. Historicaly in colonialism perpetuates intersectional discrimination against non-heterosexual Indigenous individuals, This “Broken Crayons” systemic discrimination not only violates our rights being human and also us being part of our communities. This episode we want you to answer the vital questions: What kinds of challenges do members of the LGBTQI+ face in tribal communities?
With: “Shannet Clemmings, a resilient force from Jamaica with the tribal community Marron, fearlessly embraces her transgender identity. At 35, she exudes intelligence and determination, living by powerful mantra: I was not built to break; I didn’t know own strength. With unwavering resolve, shannet defies limitations, proving that strength knows no bound.
”With: Ahu Ozgur Sen, born and raised in Kurdistan. A trans Kurdish queer-activist. She belongs to Sayyid and Düderan tribes. Migrated to Switzerland 18 months ago due to some family and other issues. Currently Ahu is involved in a numerous number of queer-activist collectives and continue to do social rights activity.
Moderator: Reya Morgado, A Transgender and Manobo Tribe from Philippines. She is gender rights advocate, community development worker, radio commentator, broadcast and print journalist, creative Artist and book author based in Bern. A political asylum who continues to fight for human rights.
